Mac OSX Botnet

There have been reports of a threat to the Mac OSX platform from malware authors. A Botnet infecting OSX machines has been reported since January, this malicious piece of code can take over a users machine to launch denial of services attacks.

It has been a key part of Apples sales strategy that the OSX platform is resistant to all types of malware, but many pundits in the industry have always stated that it is only the fact that malware authors have not targeted the platform, which like all systems has potential weaknesses that can be exploited.

Clearly security must be a priority for all users whatever platform they use, it will be interesting to see how Apple and the markets respond if, as predicted, these sort of problems increase.
